Bhubaneswar: With heatwave gripping Odisha, Chandbali on Saturday recorded 31.6 degree Celsius by 8.30 am, the Regional Meteorological Centre informed.
The mercury crossed 30°C in ten places in Odisha around 8.30 am. Places that have been experiencing scorching heat include Keonjhar (31°C), Sambalpur (30°C), Jharsuguda (30°C), Bhubaneswar (29.8°C), Paradip (29.6°C), Rourkela (29.4°C), Gopalpur (29.4°C), Balasore (29°C) and Puri (29°C).
Meanwhile, the IMD department has issued heatwave warning to 14 districts.
“Heat wave conditions very likely to prevail at isolated pockets in the districts of Odisha namely Cuttack, Bhadrak, Nayagarh, Mayurbhanj, Kalahandi, Boudh, Malkanagiri, Nuapada, Nabarangpur, Kandhamala and Balangir during next 24 hours”, read the IMD bulletin.
As per the IMD reports, warm night conditions very likely to continue to prevail in the districts namely Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Sanbalpur, Sonpur, Sundargad, Kandhamal, Boudh, Nayagarh. Also, districts namely Gajapati, Balasore Khorda and Puri will experience hot and humid conditions.
