SUM Hospital Fire: Chief Fire Officer Deposes Before RDC

**Bhubaneswar**: Chief Fire officer Sukanta Sethi deposed before Revenue Divisional Officer (Central) AB Ota here on Friday to record his statement in connection with the SUM Hospital fire mishap here on November 17 in which 31 persons were killed.

According to reports, Assistant Fire Officers TK Babu and Maheswar Swain also appeared before the RDC to record their statements.

The RDC, who is probing the fire tragedy incident, had issued notices to 11 persons to appear before it personally on Friday.

The fire officers were questioned about the incident and have submitted reports regarding the tragedy.

“We have submitted the reports both verbally and in written form as per the demand of inquiry commission. The investigation is underway. Now the commission will give the final report,” said the chief fire officer.

Prior to this, seven persons including director medical education and training (DMET) had also recorded their statements before RDC in relation to the fire accident.

Notably, the State Government had directed the RDC to enquire into the fire mishap at the Sum Hospital that had occurred on October 17. While a total of 393 affidavits were received by the last date, 61 will be called for recording their statements in phases.
