SUM Hospital Owner’s Wife And Sister Granted Anticipatory Bail
**Bhubaneswar: ** SUM Hospital’s owner Manoj Nayak’s wife, Saswati Das and sister,Arati Ranjana Nayak were granted anticipatory bail by the Orissa High Court today.
Despite being served notices several times by the Commissionerate Police (CP) to depose, they had applied for more time on medical grounds through their lawyer.
They are to face the police enquiry into the recent SUM Hospital fire tragedy that claimed lives of above 20 patients.
The Twin City Commissionerate Police had issued summons to Saswati and Arati on October 27 to appear before it within seven days in connection with the hospital blaze.
Notably, hospital owner Manoj Nayak, who is one among the trustees, was arrested soon after the hospital horror and is on bail now.
Before Nayak’s arrest after two days of the fire mishap incident, the CP had issued Look Out Circular (LOC) against him and his wife.
His wife and sister are one among the managing trustees of the SUM Hospital that is a part and parcel of the Siksha O Anusandhan (SOA, deemed university) Charitable Trust that runs the Institute of Medical Sciences and SUM Hospital here.
The CP has already grilled the SOA vice chancellor and the hospital administrative head following the quizzing of arrested Manoj Nayak during his two-day remand.
