Bhubaneswar: Leaders and activists of the Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) took out a march to the Enforcement Directorate (ED) office in Bhubaneswar on Monday as part of the nationwide protest by the party against the summons issued to Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi by the ED office in New Delhi in connection with the National Herald case.
OPCC chief Sarat Pattanayak alleged that the BJP in Centre has misutilised the ED to issue summon to Rahul Gandhi. In protest, they are staging a dharna in front of the ED office in Bhubaneswar. With such a revengeful attitude, no politician or party can last long in a democracy.
He said, “The BJP had given the slogan of a Congress-free India. It is conspiring against the Gandhi family thinking all the Congress workers in the country will become silent. But their attempts will never be fruitful. Congress workers across the country including Odisha stand with Rahul Gandhi. The truth will prevail.”
Rahul Gandhi today reached the ED’s headquarters in New Delhi to get his statement recorded in the case. He had been summoned twice in the case. He had earlier written to the national agency that he was abroad and it was not possible for him to join the probe. Sonia Gandhi has been summoned to appear on June 23.
