Bhubaneswar: In a proud moment for Odisha, Sundargarh District Magistrate Dr. Shubhankar Mahapatra has secured a place among the top 100 District Magistrates in the country in the prestigious Fame India National Efficiency Survey for the year 2026. He has also been conferred with the title of Effective Leadership.
FAME India conducted the survey in collaboration with Asia Post agency, evaluating nearly 800 districts across India on ten key parameters, including outstanding administrative capability, effective governance, vision and innovation, accountable working style, quick decision-making, crisis management skills, sensitivity towards public issues, interpersonal skills, public relations, and development-oriented thinking.
The survey, which began in 2011, has become an annual feature and is widely respected for recognizing performance and delivery of District Magistrates. Through its special edition “Best District Magistrates 2026”, FAME India highlighted officers who have shown excellence in administration, innovation, and public service.
Apart from Dr. Shubhankar Mahapatra, three other senior Odisha officers have also featured in the survey. They are Amrit Ruturaj, District Magistrate of Khordha; Dattatraya Bhausaheb Shinde, District Magistrate of Cuttack; and V. Keerthi Vasan, District Magistrate of Ganjam.
The achievement has brought immense joy to the Sundargarh administration and the people of the district. Officials described it as a recognition of the collective efforts towards good governance and efficient public service delivery in the district.
