Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department forecasted heavy to very heavy rainfall (7 to 20cm) at isolated places in the districts of Sundargarh and Keonjhar, on Tuesday. These districts have been issued orange warnings by the weather office.
As per the latest information provided by the weather office, Mayurbhanj, Deogarh, Sambalpur, Bargarh, Jharsuguda and Angul districts are likely to witness heavy rainfall (7 to 11 cm) on Tuesday. The IMD has issued a yellow warning to these districts.
A high alert has been issued by the IMD to the districts under orange and yellow warnings.
Meanwhile, the regional weather office has issued a high alert for districts under orange and yellow warnings.
The IMD advises that administrative machinery be kept ready to face any eventuality. People are advised to keep a watch on the weather and take safe shelter during thunderstorm activity to protect themselves from lightning.
In urban areas, preparations should be made for potential water logging, submerged roads, and drains. Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) are directed to keep drains water channels de-congested and deploy adequate dewatering pumps as needed.
Fishermen are advised to adhere to strict advisories. Additionally, the IMD has directed that damage reports, if any, due to heavy rainfall be submitted immediately for government information.
