Bhubaneswar: A Special POCSO court in Sundargarh on Saturday sentenced one Alanbilis Kujur to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment (RI) for raping a differently-abled minor girl in 2020.
The court also imposed a penalty of Rs 1.5 lakh on the convict, with an additional imprisonment of one and a half years if the penalty is not paid.
The incident occurred in the Kinjirikela area of Sundargarh, where Kujur raped the minor girl. The police registered a case and launched an investigation, gathering evidence that led to Kujur’s conviction.
In addition to the sentence, the court directed the Legal Services Authority to provide Rs 5 lakh as compensation to the victim.
