Sundargarh: In a major crackdown against illegal firecracker trading, Sundargarh police, under Operation Agni, raided two shops in the Main Road area of Sundargarh town on Thursday and seized firecrackers worth several lakh rupees.

The action came following allegations of unlicensed firecracker sales. Cases have been registered against the two shop owners, who were detained during the operation.

Speaking to the media, SDPO Sundargarh Nirmal Mahapatra said the raids are part of a statewide effort under Operation Agni to curb illegal firecracker businesses and ensure public safety, particularly ahead of the festival season. He added that police will continue strict monitoring to prevent violations of the law.
