Bhubaneswar: Debi Prasad Malia alias Bicky and Sujit Panda, both accused in the Dipu Rout murder case of Sundarpada surrendered before the SDJM court here today.
“On 1st of January, a murder case was registered at Airfield Police Station. The accused were identified. Two of them Debi Prasad Malia alias Bicky and Sujit Panda have surrendered before the court,” informed Bhubaneswar DCP Uma Shankar Dash speaking to reporters here today.
Dash further informed that the police have already initiated the process to get them on remand for questioning.
Special police teams have been constituted to nab the other accused persons in the case and raids are being conducted at various places, the DCP said.
“We hope to apprehend them very soon,” he added.
Deceased Rout along with two of his friends was partying near a pond at Nuasahi on New Year’s eve when another group of party revelers confronted them. Rout and one of his friends sustained grievous injuries after being attacked with sharp weapons. They were rushed to the hospital where Rout succumbed to his injuries.
