**Bhubaneswar: ** At least 46 persons have allegedly died due to sunstroke in Odisha as the State continued to witness heat wave condition on Wednesday.
According to a press release issued by the Special Relief Commissioner (SRC), out of 46 deaths, the Government has completed enquiry into seventeen cases. Six sun-stroke death cases have been confirmed while eleven others died due to other reasons, the release added.
Eight cases were reported alone from Angul district while Sambalpur, Khorda and Kendrapada districts recorded five cases. Dhenkanal and Bargarh have recorded two cases each so far.
Meanwhile, several parts of the State continued to reel under intense heat wave conditions with 13 major towns recording temperatures above.
Bolangir and Titlagarh recorded today’s highest tempreture with 46.5 degree Celsius while Bhubaneswar and Cuttuck sizzled at 39.2 degree Celsius.
According to the regional office of Indian Meteorological Office (IMD), maximum temperature in Bhawanipatna and Sonepur were 46.2 and 45.0 degree respectively.
