Bhubaneswar: A massive fire broke out at the Super Mart near Lingipur on Bhubaneswar outskirts on Monday night, sending flames soaring high into the air.
As per reports, the fire, which broke out around 10:30 pm last night, has engulfed a significant portion of the market. Till the last report came in, eight fire tenders are on the scene, battling to contain the blaze with the help of a hydrolic platform that can reach heights of 200 feet.
The fire department has also deployed a striking fire force, using new tactics to contain the blaze. Meanwhile, a large crack has appeared in the building’s wall, and firefighters are trying to break through it to prevent further damage.
Meanwhile, a major concern is that the building has no windows, making it difficult for firefighters to access the upper floors. Despite their best efforts, the fire has spread to the fourth floor. Flames and smoke are billowing out of the market, posing a risk to nearby shops and houses.
The cause of the fire is still unknown, and the extent of the damage is being assessed. Firefighters are working to prevent the fire from spreading to adjacent areas. The operation is ongoing, with more fire tenders arriving at the scene to aid in the efforts.
A short circuit is suspected to be the reason behind the fire mishap, according to preliminary investigations.
