**Bhubaneswar:** In the latest development to the ghastly rape case of Surat, Gujarat Home Minister Pradeep Singh Jadeja said that the deceased 11-year-old girl is suspected to be the native of Odisha.
He said that they have no information regarding her identity and have got posters printed and pasted for her identification, but they suspect that she hailed from Odisha.
When the brutality of Kathua minor rape and Unnao rape case sent shock waves across the whole country, the Surat horror compounded the effect. The body of an 11-yr-old girl with about 86 injury marks, including around her vagina was found dumped in Surat’s Bhestan area, informed Surat police.
She was allegedly held captive for days together, physically tortured and raped repeatedly before being strangulated to death and dumped in the city.
Though Surat police have scanned data of 8,000 missing children and have taken a DNA sample for identification, they have contacted Odisha DGP for more information.
Meanwhile, Odisha police DGP RP Sharma informed, “Surat Commissioner informed us about the deceased minor girl found in Surat and they suspect that the girl may be of Odisha. So they have shared the details of that girl and we have forwarded the details and the photos to all the respective SPs of the State for identification. If there will be any missing report in Odisha, then she can be identified.”
“As per their information, the girl’s age is between 9 to 13 years. She was slim and fair, with a height of 4 feet. She had put on a blue t-shirt and light green leggings. If there is any such missing complaint tallying with this case,we would inform the Gujarat police immediately,” he further informed.
Notably, on Sunday, the Surat police came across an 11-yr-old girl’s body 10 days ago, who was allegedly confined, raped, tortured and strangulated to death brutally.
The Surat police are yet to find headway in this case as the girl’s identity and the perpetrators of this ghastly crime is yet to be ascertained.
