Cuttack: Surendra will be seen as the head coach of the Odisha senior cricket team in BCCI’s domestic circuit for the year 2024-25. He has already coached various states like Haryana, Punjab and Maharashtra. Odisha Cricket Association had appointed Dinesh Mongia as the head coach per the instructions of the OCA’s Cricket Champions Committee (CAC). Mongia was asked to extend his contract as the head coach of the Odisha senior team at the end of his one-year tenure, but they left the OCA.
More than ten applications were received for the position of head coach and the OCA accepted Surendra’s application. According to the CEO of OCA, many national and international coaches have already resigned as head coaches of the Odisha Cricket Association. In 2019, Rashmi Ranjan Parida resigned as the head coach of the Odisha senior team. Now, Surendra will give the OCA a special place in the domestic scene.
Surendra said to reporters here, “The previous coach has done his duty for OCA in many matches. Odisha is a good and strong team. I wish to work with this team for many seasons. I am optimistic that Odisha will perform well in the upcoming BCCI home series.”
