Bhubaneswar: The Bhubaneswar Metro Rail Corporation started the survey work for the proposed Metro Railway in Bhubaneswar on Friday. The survey work was undertaken from Vani Vihar to Sishu Bhawan Square.
According to reports, a special team of the Bhubaneswar Metro Rail Corporation along with officials of the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC), Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA), Bhubaneswar Smart City Limited, TPCODL, GAIL, BSNL, WATCO and Commissionerate Traffic Police conducted the survey today. The public road survey for the ambitious Metro railway project was conducted in the morning hours due to the intense heatwave prevailing in the region.
The team surveyed the electricity poles, water pipes, telephone lines, gas pipelines and others in proposed metro station areas.
As per the plan, a 26-km metro railway line will connect Bhubaneswar Airport to Trishulia in Cuttack Trishulia at an estimated cost of Rs 8,000 crore. The tracks of the Metro Railway will be elevated and will be supported by 450 pillars. In the first phase, the project will have five stations including Master Canteen, Vani Vihar, Jaydev Vihar, Chandrasekharpur, Patia and Nandankanan.
The Metro Railway project will greatly reduce the travel woes of the commuters who will take only 15 minutes to travel from Bhubaneswar to Cuttack and vice versa.
