Bhubaneswar: The fifth COVID-19 patient from Surya Nagar and the three positive cases identified in Bomikhal had links outside the State, informed Commissioner of Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) Prem Chandra Chaudhary on Saturday.
Chaudhary said that a family member of the fifth patient had travelled to Kolkata recently and had stayed for four days there. The said contact of the fifth patient was also tested positive of COVID-19 yesterday.
All the family members of the fifth patient who were detected positive of COVID-19 have been shifted to COVID hospital, he added.
Similarly, three brothers from Bomikhal had been tested COVID-19 positive yesterday. It was found that their father stays in Bhopal and he was also tested COVID-19 positive.
Though outside State links have been established in these cases, the active surveillance will continue in these areas in view of public safety as no infected case should go undetected, said Chaudhary.
He asked all not to panic as outside State links have been established, however, asked all to follow the given instructions, stay at home and support in the contact tracing and active surveillance in the areas.
