Suspension Of ‘Normal Functioning’ Of Orissa High Court Extended Till Oct 9

Bhubaneswar: The normal functioning of Orissa High Court has been suspended till October 9. A letter issued by the Register General of the Orissa High Court on Wednesday stated: “The normal functioning of the High Court shall continue to remain suspended till 09.10.2020 and the arrangement made in Office Order Dated – 21.08.2020 regarding functioning of the High Court shall remain in force till then.”

The functioning of the Subordinate Courts / Tribunals shall continue as per the arrangement made in the Order issued on August 21, until further orders, the HC order further read. As per the previous order, the proceedings were to be carried out over video conferencing.

At places where internet connectivity was poor, the court proceedings were allowed on the premises but with strict adherence to COVID guidelines. The previous order stated that, a witness or accused must not be forced to appear before the court unless required. The restrictions were lifted following Centre’s unlock guidelines for September.
