**Bhubaneswar: ** The high level review meeting on the implementation of the ongoing ‘Swachh Bharat Mission’ on Thursday revealed that Odisha Government has achieved a current success of 55 percent while the State Administration has tightened up its belt and geared up its machinery accordingly to achieve a total target by the end of this year.
The significant review meeting was held at the State Secretariat here chaired jointly by Government of India (GoI)’s Drinking Water and Sanitation Secretary Parameswar Aiyer and Odisha Chief Secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi.
The important ‘Swachh Bharat Mission’ review meeting had a video conferencing with the District Collectors.
Briefing media after the review meeting, the Odisha Chief Secretary informed that Odisha’s present achievement in ‘Swachh Bharat Mission’ is 55 percent while it had been only 10 percent till 2014.
On the open defecation free (ODF) achievement, the Chief Secretary informed that two districts have already officially been declared ODF and the two districts are Jharsuguda and Deogarh.
The Chief Secretary further informed that four more districts will be ODF by July this year and the districts are Gajapati, Sambalpur, Sonepur and Balasore.
The Odisha Chief Secretary also informed that the State administration has geared up its machinery in a bid to achieve the total target of ODF statewide by the end of this year.
On the other hand, the Secretary of the Union Government also paid a courtesy visit to Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik at his official chamber in the Secretariat and apprised him of the ‘Swachh Bharat Mission’ implementation status in the State here.
