Bhubaneswar: Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan got a taste of Odisha’s iconic Rasogola during his visit to the state to attend the Millet Day programme.
According to reports, Union Minister Chouhan and Odisha Deputy Chief Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo visited a local sweet shop, Tarini Mistan Bhandar at Pahala in Cuttack on Monday while returning from a function in Cuttack and savoured the iconic Odisha delicacy Pahala Rasogola.
Apart from Rasagola, they were treated to hot Rasogola and Chhena.
Upon their arrival, the sweet shop owner Alok and his nephew Debi Prasad offered the delicacies to the dignitaries. Chouhan praised the taste and texture of the Rasogola, saying it was ‘soft and tasty’.
Chouhan and Deo also purchased around 1,000 rupees worth of Rasogola and Chhenagaja as takeaways, promoting the local sweet treat.
Taking to his X handle, Deputy Chief Minister wrote: “A sweet pause with a sweeter purpose! While returning from Cuttack last evening, I had the delightful opportunity to share Odisha’s iconic Pahala Rasogola with Hon’ble Union Agriculture Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan Ji. More than just a dessert, Rasogola is a symbol of Odisha’s culinary heritage—steeped in tradition, devotion, and craftsmanship. Its unique taste, born from centuries of cultural refinement, now carries the fragrance of Odisha across the globe. As we savoured each syrup-soaked bite, it was heartening to see how this humble sweet has become a proud ambassador of our state’s identity and legacy.”
