Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi inaugurated the 150th program of the state-level national song ‘Vande Mataram’ at Lok Seva Bhavan, emphasizing its significance in instilling patriotism and bravery. He stated that Vande Mataram, derived from Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay’s novel ‘Ananda Math’, played a crucial role in awakening the nation’s consciousness during the freedom struggle.
Majhi highlighted the British rulers’ ban on Vande Mataram as proof of the song’s power and influence. He urged citizens to join the year-long celebration, which includes collective singing, cultural events, and awareness programs, to promote patriotism among youth and students.
The Chief Minister emphasized that Vande Mataram rekindles the fire of patriotism, essential for India’s progress, regardless of language, religion, or region. He encouraged participation in programs across districts, schools, colleges, and organizations, aiming to spread the glory of Mother India worldwide.
Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja, Development Commissioner Anu Garg, Secretary, Odia Language, Literature and Culture Department Dr. Vijay Ketan Upadhyay, all departmental secretaries and other senior officers and employees were present at the event. Students of Utkal Sangeet Mahavidyalaya sang the national anthem, Vande Mataram.
