Bhubaneswar: The Rasulgarh Durga Puja Committee in Bhubaneswar, which sets up splendid pandal every year with different themes, has brought Buddhist temple of Taiwan this year for the revelers.
The pandal has become the most sought-after among others in the city due to its artistic craft works. Around 35-40 artisans from West Bengal were roped in for the construction of the 65 feet high and 120 feet wide structure that replicates Buddha temple of Taiwan, organizers said.
The replica of the Taiwan temple, the hexagonal structure with plywood, bamboo and white clothes painted in shades of different colours is mesmerizing the spectators.
Besides, the clay idol of Goddess Durga was also crafted by West Bengal artists. The idol which is accompanied by a magnificent tableau is around 20 feet height.
The majestic pandal drew huge footfall from across the State on Saptami and Mahastami as Meena Bazar, swings and cultural programmes are the major centre of attraction of the celebration. Every year, the committee organizes melody, dance, and musical nights with the performance of cine stars and popular playback singers.
The star-stud cultural programmes draw a massive crowd. Committee sources said the entertainment events are organised every day beginning from Maha Saptami.
The organizers have also made elaborate arrangements for seamless crowd management. The committee’s own volunteers have been engaged besides police forces to ensure the devotees have a hassle-free darshan. Security cameras have also been installed at various points near the pandal to detect crime in crowds.
‘Prasad’ distribution is another excitation for the devotees at the Puja pandal. Different types of sweets and pithas are offered to the Goddess on Saptami and Mahastami. On Navami, special ‘Dahi Pakhala’ is also offered to Devi Durga. Devotees get the divine taste of the Prasad every day beginning from Sasthi to Dussehra.
