Balasore: A tantric or witch doctor allegedly raped a woman for over 2.5 months on the pretext of solving her marital dispute. The incident came to light after the woman lodged a complaint in this regard at Jaleswar Police Station.
As per the complaint, the woman of Kakhara village had married Nilamani Jena of Chamargan village in 2017. Six months after the marriage, they experienced marital conflict and even her in-laws started to torture her.
Assuring to solve the marital dispute, the complainant’s mother-in-law Gita Rani had taken her to the witch doctor in Bhograi and had forced her to establish a sexual relationship with him.
Despite her opposition, the tantric raped the complainant in presence of her mother-in-law. They also threatened the complainant to kill her two-year-old son if she reports the incident to anyone.
Some days later, Gita Rani and the witch doctor abducted the complainant and her son and kept them hostage at a house in Moroda area of Mayurbhanj district. There the tantric raped the complainant for over 1.5 months.
On April 28, the complainant managed to get hold of the tantric’s phone and informed her family members. Subsequently, her parents with the help of Moroda Police rescued her from the house on the same day.
Based on the woman’s complaint, Jaleswar Police have registered a case against the woman’s husband Nilamani, his father Purnachandra, mother Gita Rani, younger brother Suryamani and the tantric.
