**Bhubaneswar:** The East Coast Railway (ECoR) have decided to reward the personnel of fire services, Government Railway Police (GRP) and Railway Protection Force (RPF) for their quick response after three coaches of Puri-Hatia Tapaswini Express caught fire today afternoon.
In recognition of the lightning speed action of the fire personnel, the General Manager of ECoR has announced a special award of Rs 50,000 for them. They will be felicitated and awarded at a special Railway function soon.
Likewise, the General Manager will also felicitate and award the GRP and RPF personnel in appreciation of their prompt and active action.
Fire was reported from coach S/4 of empty rake of Tapaswini Express, at around 12:55 PM today, when the train was getting cleaned after its arrival at Puri. The personnel of fire services department, Puri unit, immediately jumped into action and doused the flames.
While coach S/4 has been badly damaged in the mishap, S/5 and S/3 coaches have also been partially affected at the end (vestibuled) part. AC coaches and coaches from S/6 onwards were cut off from the rake by station staff to prevent the fire from spreading.
