Bhubaneswar: State Cabinet has approved a massive Rs 10,000 crore integrated ingot-wafer and solar cell manufacturing project by Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL) at the Tata Special Economic Zone (SEZ).
This pioneering project will cover the entire value chain from ingot and wafer to solar cell manufacturing, making Odisha a hub for renewable energy equipment manufacturing.
The project will be developed in two phases, with a total capacity of 10 GW ingot-wafer and 5 GW solar cell manufacturing. It’s expected to generate over 5,000 direct and indirect employment opportunities, including high-skill jobs, and attract downstream and ancillary investments in the renewable energy sector.
This facility will strengthen Odisha’s upstream solar value chain, reduce dependence on imports, and support India’s goal of achieving 100 GW domestic solar module manufacturing capacity by 2030. It will also boost ancillary MSMEs and enhance tax revenues.
