**Kalinganagar:** A total of 811 Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe students from different Schools and Colleges located in Kalinganagar, Bamnipal and Sukinda area were awarded Tata Steel Jyoti Fellowships in a function organised here at Sukinda Bhawan on Thursday.
The philanthropic endeavour, organised by the Tribal Cultural Society (TCS) was promoted by Tata Steel.
374 meritorious students from Kalinganagar, 233 from Bamnipal and 204 from Sukinda were awarded with the fellowship at the event.
Krushna Chandra Nayak, District Education Officer (DEO), Jajpur, Urmila Ekka, Head of Tribal Cultural Society, Tata Steel graced the event. Soumitra Patnaik, Head of Corporate Communications, Tata Steel and Dr Ambika Prasad Nanda, Head of CSR (Odisha), Tata Steel were also present at the event.
Speaking on the occasion, Krushna Chandra Nayak said, ‘I am thankful to Tata Steel for motivating SC/ST students from Danagadi, Sukinda and Harichandanpur blocks through Jyoti Fellowship. I am impressed with the programmes of Tata Steel for students of backward sections of the society’.
The cash amount of the fellowship was Rs 3,750 (Class VIII), Rs 4,500 (Class IX), Rs 4,500 (Class X), Rs 8,500 (Intermediate), Rs 8,500 (Undergraduate), Rs 10,000 (Diploma) and Rs 25,000 (B. Tech). Certificates of merit were also given to students up to Class X on the occasion.
Award of Jyoti Fellowship was a part of Tata Steel’s three-day long mega event ‘Arunima’, being organised at Kalinganagar.
