Cuttack: Unidentified miscreants attacked the owner of a tea and breakfast shop and his wife in Nischintakoili block of Odisha’s Cuttack district while they were sleeping in the shop at Kulia Bazar under Salepur police limits on Wednesday night. While the shop owner Harakrishna was killed in the attack, his wife Annapurna was shifted to Cuttack in critical condition.
Early in the morning, when the local people came to drink tea, they came to know about the incident and informed the victims’ families and police. While the cause of the murder is yet to be ascertained, Salepur police have launched an investigation into the crime.
A scientific team has also been pressed into action to get clues to nab the assailants.
On August 24, a businessman, Dolgobind Das, was killed in the local market in a similar way. Though 12 days have passed since the crime, Salepur police have not been able to trace the accused.
Meanwhile, Salepur police IIC, SDPO Salepur, and Cuttack Rural Additional SP Krishna Prasad Patnaik have investigated the incident. It is clear from these two murders that traders are being targeted in the region.
