Nabarangpur: A teacher of a government residential school in Nabarangpur district has been apprehended for allegedly misbehaving with the girl students.
The accused identified as Amar Kumar Nath is the Chemistry teacher at Ekalavya Model Residential School (EMRS) in Hirli area of Nabarangpur district.
Reportedly, the girl students had alleged that Nath has been misbehaving and making obscene gestures toward them. The girls also submitted a complaint to Principal Rajendra Prasad Mahapatra on May 8. After conducting a probe in this regard, Nath was asked to submit his resignation on May 11.
On receiving a complaint in this regard, the District administration also formed a task force to probe the matter. The District Welfare Officer, the members of the child welfare committee (CWC), and the DSWO discussed with the students and staff of the school.
DSP Dibya Kanti Lakra also received complaints from the girls. Based on it, a case against the teacher was registered at Nabarangpur Police Station and he was subsequently arrested.
