Bhubaneswar: Markatnagar police ascertained the identity of the person who abandoned her scooter and her sandals on SubashSetu at Trishulia before vanishing.
Though Police came to know that the scooter belonged to teacher Mamata Sahu, a resident of Nua Bazaar in Cuttack, police are still clueless about her whereabouts.
The incident came to light when passersby noticed the scooter parked on the bridge.
According to sources, Mamata is a teacher at a local school in Cuttack, where she has been working for over 10 years. She lives with her husband and family in Cuttack’s Nua Bazar. Yesterday, she had gone to attend her father’s death anniversary ceremony with her husband and returned home around 9 pm. However, she left home on her scooter at 3 am without informing anyone in her family.
Upon being informed about the scooter being abandoned on the bridge, police reached the scene and found the scooter with the key still in the ignition and a slipper nearby. The plate number of the scooter helped police to establish the identity.
After receiving the news, Mamata’s family members arrived at the bridge and identified the scooter. However, they failed to answer where Mamata had gone or why she had left the scooter.
Her brother said, “Mamata had attended her father’s death anniversary yesterday and returned home at 9 pm, without mentioning any problems. After receiving news about her scooter lying abandoned on the bridge, we came here.”
Till the last report came in, the firefighting officials were carrying out a search operation for Mamata in the river.
