Paradip: In a freak accident a technician drowned while repairing a dredging ship in the prohibited area of Paradip Port.
The deceased has been identified as Y Ashok. Ashok was a resident of Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh.
According to reports, two technicians had dived underwater to repair a technical snag that had developed in the dredging ship berthed in the prohibited area of Paradip Port.
While repairing of the dredging ship was underway, the rope tied to Ashok’s waist snapped following which he drowned to death.
Dredging Corporation of India has reported Ashok’s death due to drowning at the Nehru Bungalow Marine Police Station. Following the report, police seized the body and sent it for conduct of autopsy.
