Bhubaneswar: A 13-year-old boy, Sohan Digal, sustained critical injuries after falling onto an iron grill while attempting to retrieve his school uniform from the rooftop of his residence in IRC Village on Friday.

Originally from Kandhamal district, Sohan lost his balance while reaching for his clothes and fell, getting impaled on a sharp part of the grill. His screams for help alerted nearby residents.

At the time, personnel from the Secretariat Fire Station were already in the area addressing damage caused by the morning’s Kalbaisakhi storm. They quickly responded, using cutting equipment to free the boy before rushing him to AIIMS Bhubaneswar for emergency treatment.

Doctors have confirmed that Sohan remains in critical condition. His family and well-wishers are praying for his recovery as he undergoes intensive care.
