Bhubaneswar: A 15-year-old boy went missing after being swept away by the strong currents of the Subarnarekha River in Balasore district, on Thursday.
As per reports, , a Class X student Sahil, son of Manoranjan Das of Baliapal village had gone to the river with two friends, Chandan and Debashish to take a bath on Thursday afternoon.
While bathing, Sahil slipped and was swept away by the river’s strong currents. His friends searched for him but failed to find him. They returned home but didn’t inform anyone about the incident due to fear.
When Sahil didn’t return home for a long time, his family began searching for him anxiously. They then learned about the incident from Sahil’s two friends, Chandan and Debashish.
They rushed to the river and were taken back to find Sahil’s bicycle, shoes, and clothes lying near the ghat.
The family, along with local villagers and fire department officials, searched for Sahil until evening but couldn’t find him. The search operation resumed today to trace out Sahil’s body, sources said.
