Bhubaneswar: The regional office of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) here forecast on Monday that the current meteorological condition indicates that the maximum temperature (day temperature) is very likely to fall gradually by 4°C to 6°C during the next 3 days, while no significant change is likely thereafter at many places over the districts of Odisha.
The maximum temperature is very likely to be above normal by 4°C – 6°C in some districts of interior Odisha during the next 2 days. Consequently, hot and discomfort weather is likely during the next 2 days
The weather office has advised people to take precautionary measures by avoiding heat exposure, keeping cool, and avoiding dehydration while going outside during day time between 11.00 am and 3.00 pm.
An orange alert for the heat wave to severe heat wave conditions is very likely to prevail at a few places over the districts of Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Bargarh, Sonepur, and Deogarh on Tuesday, while a yellow warning for heatwave conditions has been issued for a few places over the districts of Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Bargarh, and Sonepur on Wednesday.
According to the IMD, the conditions are favourable for the advancement of southwest monsoon into Odisha. The southwest monsoon has further advanced into some more parts of Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, west-central and northwest Bay of Bengal; some parts of Gangetic West Bengal and Jharkhand; some more parts of Bihar and remaining parts of sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim on Monday.
