Bhubaneswar: The Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) has lodged a complaint with the Singhadwar police station against a social media account, ‘vishvrajcreation’, for allegedly sharing AI-generated images and videos of Lord Jagannath that have hurt devotees’ sentiments.
According to reports, the temple administration approached the police after AI-generated images and videos of Lord Jagannath gone viral.
In the AI-generated video, Lord Jagannath’s massive statue can reportedly be seen on a platform in front of the Srimandir, with milk being poured over it using a crane. Another video shows Lord Jagannath holding a conch and chakra, with a virtual sea created in front of the temple. These videos, which go against tradition, have sparked outrage among devotees. People are demanding the videos be removed from social media and action be taken against those creating them.
The SJTA has condemned the content, stating it has disturbed religious harmony and also filed a complaint with the Puri Singhadwar police station.
The complaint was submitted by the Srimandir Security Administrator Hemant Kumar Padhi pointing out that the visuals had hurt the sentiments of Jagannath devotees.
