Bhubaneswar: A priest of the famous Maa Sarala Temple in Jagatsinghpur was arrested for allegedly molesting a woman on the pretext of performing a ritual.
The accused has been identified as Samirendra Raul of Deuli village under Tirtol police limits in Jagatsinghpur.
The woman in question had visited the temple with her husband on May 15 to perform a puja when Raul took their mobile number and used to call her regularly, reports stated.
On Wednesday he asked Pratima to arrange for a special worship and reached her house at around 8 pm.
Raul asked the family members to leave the house and directed Pratima to sit in meditation along with him.
Later, he started molesting her when Pratima screamed for help. When the family members entered the room, she narrated her ordeal following which a police complaint was registered.
