Bhadrak: Three persons sustained critical injuries following a group clash over a land dispute on the premises of Bhadrak Hospital late Wednesday night. The injured has been admitted to the hospital.

According to reports, tension prevailed on the premises of Bhadrak Hospital due to the group clash. Trouble began when unidentified miscreants entered a local hotel and threatened its owner with dire consequences over a land dispute. They reportedly attacked Subhakanta Pati, the owner of the hotel owner, around Wednesday midnight. Consequently, the miscreants and supporters of Pati clashed in the hotel and three sustained critical injuries. One of them was later shifted to a Cuttack hospital for better treatment.

The situation deteriorated after the injured were admitted to Bhadrak Hospital and both groups again entered the hospital premises and a violent clash ensued.

On being informed, Bhadrak police rushed to the spot and resorted to a mild lathi charge to bring the situation under control. Five platoons of police forces were deployed on the hospital premises to maintain peace. Bhadrak Town police station officer, Bhadrak Rural police station officer, Old Bazaar police station officer, and the City DSP also rushed to the hospital to bring the situation under control.

Later, Pati told reporters, “The group clash erupted due to the controversy over a piece of land I purchased at Charampa. I have lodged a complaint in this regard at Bhadrak Town police station but the police failed to take any action. These had also attacked us earlier too.,”

Meanwhile, Anshuman Dwivedi said, “We have deployed five platoons of police on the hospital premises to keep the situation under control. In addition, we took the help of nearby police stations to maintain peace in the area.”
