**Puri:** Tension prevailed on the premises of Puri district headquarters hospital (DHH) after the death of a 60-year-old man, who was allegedly being thrashed by some youths last night.
Reportedly, the deceased identified as Sarat Chandra Sahu had been attacked by some youths at Bira Pratappur square under Chandanpur police limits of Puri district last night while he was returning home after closing his wielding shop in the area.
The youths had allegedly hit Sarat repeatedly on his head and fled, leaving him profusely bleeding on the spot. Later family members, on getting information, arrived on the scene and rushed Sarat to the hospital where doctor declared him brought dead.
The incident sparked rage among Sarat’s family members and villagers who gathered to protest against his death. Following it, heavy police force has been deployed in the hospital.
Preliminary police probe suggests previous enmity as the motive behind the incident. Meanwhile, raids are being conducted at various places to nab the accused.
