Bhadrak: Tension ran high at Bhandaripokhari Community Health Centre in Bhadrak district on Thursday after a patient suffering from cold was allegedly given an anti-rabies vaccine by a nurse.
According to sources, Bijay Biswal (56), a resident of Dakhinabada village, came to the Bhandaripokhari Community Health Centre as he was suffering from severe body ache because of cold.
Attending the patient, the doctor prescribed medicines apart from diclofenac injection to alleviate the body ache. However, the nurse on duty allegedly administered an anti-rabies injection to the patient.
When Bijay’s family came to know about it, they confronted the nurse. Instead of apologizing for her mistake, the nurse is alleged to have started arguing with Bijay’s family members. Later, she fled the scene when Bijay’s family created a ruckus at the hospital demanding stern action against the irresponsible nurse.
Meanwhile, the hospital-in-charge has confessed to the negligence done by the nurse. He has also assured that stern action will be taken against the nurse following a probe into the matter.
It is learnt that the hospital authorities have issued show-cause notice to the nurse.
