Berhampur: Unidentified miscreants, hurled bombs and looted Rs 2 lakh from two youths on National Highway No 59 late on Saturday night. While the entire robbery was caught on CCTV camera installed near the place of occurrence, the incident has triggered panic in the area.
According to reports, the loot occurred near a betel shop under the Auto Nagar overpass when two youths D Duryodhana and Akash Patra, both residents of Kanishi village, were talking. Suddenly, three miscreants approached them and abused them in filthy language. As the matter heated up, the miscreants hurled bombs and physically attacked the youths with sword and other sharp-edged weapons. Before fleeing the spot, the miscreants snatched a bag from one of the youths containing Rs 2 lakh cash.
On being informed, Golanthara police reached the spot and started an investigation into the loot. So far, two persons have been detained in connection with the crime and are being interrogated by the police.
