Bhubaneswar: Prasanna Panda and Prachurjya Pradhan are two such inspiring persons who overcame all difficulties and cracked the Odisha Civil Services 2020 despite of 100% visual impairment.

Panda, who is pursuing his PhD at Jawaharlal Nehru University, occupied 266th position in the merit list out of 392 candidates. Pradhan, who is also pursuing his PhD at Ravenshaw University, occupied 292nd position.

Talking to Ommcom News, Panda said that joining the Civil Services was his childhood dream and he pursued it during graduation.

After completing his Post Graduation in International Relations at JNU he first appeared for the Civil Services in 2019 but was not able to qualify the Mains.

However, he continued his preparation and finally qualified in the second attempt.

Panda said the major challenges he was facing during his preparation was the difficulty to access resources and handwritten notes due to his blindness.

Though he aimed for the Indian Civil Services he is satisfied with the Odisha Civil Services and is ready to perform his duties in whatever department Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik appoints him.

Pradhan said that it is a proud moment for him and he dedicated the success to his family members and the blind community of Odisha.

As he is an international Chess player, Pradhan said that the analytical, calculation, and memory skills he acquired in the game helped him in his preparation.

Talking about challenges he faced during the preparation, Pradhan said that he considered his life as an adventure and his entire family helped him in overcoming all the challenges.

He is ready to serve the State in whatever capacity he is appointed by the State Government. However, as a Commerce background student, he is interested in the Finance sector.
