Bhubaneswar: While the twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack in Odisha experienced some relief from harsh cold conditions, dense fog engulfed the region reducing visibility and disrupting normal life on Wednesday morning.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the blanket of dense fog reduced visibility to 100 meters. Dense for was also reported from other places of the state, including Rourkela where visibility was reduced to 50 meters. Dense fog also occurred in Dhenkanal reducing visibility to as low as 20 meters.
The dense fog made life difficult for the commuters. Even the vehicular traffic on the outskirts of the twin cities and some places in interior Odisha was few and far between due to the fog.
The IMD has issued an alert for dense fog at one or two places in Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Cuttack, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Khurda, Puri, Nayagarh, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Rayagada and Koraput on Thursday.
