Cuttack: A third patient suspected to be infected with coronavirus was admitted to the isolation ward of SCB Medical College & Hospital in Cuttack late last night.
The patient, a native of Jagatsinghpur, was reportedly working at Hong Kong in China as a software engineer and had returned home on January 14. He was rushed to the hospital after he showed symptoms of coronavirus.
As per procedure, his throat swabs and blood samples will be sent for testing. He will be administered to further treatment or be discharged based on the test reports.
Another China-return medico has also been under isolation at the hospital after she complained of uneasiness. Her test results are awaited.
The first suspected coronavirus patient was from Phulbani who was pursuing MBBS in China. After showing symptoms of coronavirus he was admitted at the SCB Hospital but was discharged after his test results came negative.
The State Government has open special wards in five major hospitals in different locations for the treatment of coronavirus case. SCB has opened a special ward with 76 beds with 8 ICU beds for possible cases. If need be, the number of beds will also be extended up to 100.
Apart from SCBMCH in Cuttack, special wards have also been opened MKCG, Berhampur, VIMSAR, Burla, Capital Hospital, Bhubaneswar, Rourkela Government Hospital and Jharsuguda District Headquarters Hospital and in Paradip Port Hospital.
