Bhubaneswar: As many as 891 Headmaster posts and over 34,000 Trained Graduate Teacher (TGT) posts are vacant in 3207 Aided High Schools across Odisha, as per the data provided by School & Mass Education Minister Samir Ranjan Dash in the Odisha Assembly on Wednesday.
Similarly, 2259 base level Junior Assistant posts are vacant in offices of DEO/BEO and Government High Schools. A total of 1178 Principals and Teachers posts are vacant in Odisha Adarsha Vidyalayas (OAVs).
In reply to a question of legislator Amar Prasad Satpathy, the Minister said that steps are being taken to fill up 14697 L-III Senior Headmaster, 4545 L-IV Headmaster, 6777 L-IV Graduate Teacher (Arts), 15865 L-IV Graudate Teacher (Science), and 6448 L-V (B) posts in Primary and Upper Primary Schools across the State through promotion.
A total of 14,404 teachers were recruited in between 2019-20 to 2022-23. As many as 2244 Secondary School teachers have been promoted as Senior Secondary School Service (SES) Headmasters in two phases. Steps are being taken to fill up the vacant 1081 Headmaster posts.
The Odisha Staff Selection Commission has issued an advertisment inviting applications to fill up 7540 teacher posts in Government High Schools. Subordinate Staff Selection Commission has been requested to fill up the 2259 base level Junior Assistant posts in offices of DEO/BEO and Government High Schools.
Guest faculties are being recruited against the vacant posts in the aided High Schools and the proposal to fill the posts is under consideration, said the Minister.
