Jharsuguda: Three people were arrested for dealing with fake Indian currency notes in Banaharpali, informed Jharsuguda police.
The scam was exposed when one of the accused was caught using fake currency note at a fuel station in Banaharpali, yesterday. The fuel station owner immediately informed the local police.
The police inquiry ended at a counterfeit currency printing unit at Bamra in Sambalpur late last night. A raid was conducted in the unit and three people were arrested. Notes with a total face value of Rs 96,300 was seized. Police recovered 9 notes of Rs 500 denomination, 918 notes of Rs 100 from them, one colour printer, printing material, three mobile phones and a motorcycle.
The accused have been forwarded to court, informed Jharsuguda SP Rahul P.R. Police have launched a probe to ascertain the involvement of other persons in the racket.
