Bhubaneswar: In a major breakthrough, the Durgapur police have arrested three accused involved in the gang-rape of an Odia medical student.
The police tracked the accused’s mobile phone locations to apprehend them. Two other accused are still absconding, and a manhunt is underway. The police are working to ensure the absconding accused are brought to justice soon. The victim’s health is improving, but still under treatment, according to reports.
Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Saturday spoke to the father of the victim and assured him of all support. Majhi also directed Balasore Police to remain in touch with Durgapur police. The CM demanded stringent action against the culprits.
The 23-year-old MBBS student, a resident of Jaleswar in Balasore, who was pursuing medical courses at a private medical college in Durgapur, West Bengal was allegedly gang-raped by five unidentified men Friday, shortly after she stepped out for dinner with a classmate.
