Bhubaneswar: The police have arrested three individuals, including a father-son duo, in connection with the murder of Narasingh Behera, the secretary of the Masanichandi management committee in Puri.
The accused were caught with sharp weapons, including a Bhujali and a dagger, which were allegedly used in the crime.
According to Puri DSP Prasant Sahoo, the motive behind the murder was a dispute over the theft of green coconuts from the Masani Chandi temple premises. The main accused’s son had previously quarrelled with Behera after being caught stealing coconuts. The accused later returned with associates, armed, and attacked Behera at his home, using chilli powder to incapacitate him before striking with a weapon.
The police have seized the weapons and are investigating the case.
