Nayagarh: Three motorcycle riders were killed late Thursday night when they rammed against a tree near Umkashram on Komand Patha while returning from the Sri Ram Navami procession in Odisha’s Nayagarh district.
The deceased have been identified as Suryakant Pradhan (19) of Maheshwarpur panchayat, Madhav Pradhan (20) of Rohiba under Odgaon Adarsha police station limits, and Rajesh Naik (19) of the same village.
According to reports, all three boys left their homes on a motorbike at 8.00 am to watch the Sri Ram Navani procession and were returning home at 12.00 midnight after taking part in the procession. On their way back home, they crashed against a roadside tree and were critically injured.
Hearing the sound of the crash and cries for help, local residents rushed to the spot and rescued the boys in critical condition. They were rushed to the nearby Odgaon Health Center where the doctors declared Suryakant ‘brought dead’. Rajesh and Madhav were shifted to Niagara Main Hospital after their condition deteriorated. However, they breathed their last on the way to Niagara Main Hospital.
