Three School Students Run Over By Pick-Up Van In Cuttack’s Banki

Bhubaneswar: In a tragic incident, three class- X students died after being run over by a speeding pick-up van near Ranasankha under Banki police station in Cuttack district on Saturday morning.

Two died on the spot while another succumbed to injuries in hospital.

All the deceased have been identified as Abhayansu Pirohi, Sohan Nayak and Abinash Dhal.

The student who suffered serious injuries was initially admitted to Banki Hospital and later shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack. He died while undergoing treatment at the hospital.

Two are from Haridaspur while another belongs to Shukhuakhala in Banki.

The tragic incident took place when the students were returning from the nearest Chakuleshwar village after attending tuition classes.

The accident triggered tension at the spot as a large number of people gathered there and created ruckus.

The driver of the pick-up van fled the spot soon after the mishap.

Police reached the spot and sent the body for post-mortem. Police also seized the pick-up van.
