Boudh: In an exemplary action, Boudh Superintendent of Police (SP) on Friday suspended three police personnel for their alleged connivance with narcotic smugglers, especially in ganja (marijuana) smuggling cases.
The suspended police personnel are Baghiapada police outpost officer Sanatan Pradhan and constables Sanjeev Pradhan and Keshab Pradhan. The three have been accused of connivance with ganja (cannabis) smugglers in the area. In a recent case, they allowed ganja smugglers to go unpunished and kept the contraband at their official quarters.
Sources in the police revealed that these three police personnel were hand-in-glove with ganja smugglers, who bribed the former for allowing the miscreants to carry out their illegal business without any hindrance.
According to reports, Beradabari outpost in-charge Pradhan nabbed a youth and seized 13 kg of marijuana and a two-wheeler from him at Beredaberi on January 16. Later, Pradhan allegedly released the accused after a deal with him. Allowing the accused to go unpunished, the outpost in-charge allegedly hid the former’s bike and kept the ganja in his official quarters.
An inquiry was ordered in this connection on the basis of a complaint and the connivance of the outpost in-charge and two constables in the crime was established. The SP suspended the three cops on the basis of the findings of the investigation.
