Bhubaneswar: The three-day 3rd Education Working Group (EdWG) meeting hosted by the Ministry of Education begins in Bhubaneswar on Wednesday. The event will be attended by G20 member countries, guest countries, and invited organisations such as OECD, UNESCO, and UNICEF to deliberate on the zero draft of the G20 Education Minister Declaration.
According to Sanjay K Murthy, Secretary, Higher Education, the recommendations of the participants at the meeting will go into drafting the declaration to be presented at the Education Ministers’ meeting in Pune on June 22.
The event, scheduled from April 26 to 28, will comprise a seminar/exhibition and working group meetings. The seminar on ‘Building capacities for lifelong learning in the context of future of work’ will be organised at CSIR-Institute of Minerals and Materials Technology in collaboration with NSDC.
On the first day, Dr Subhas Sarkar, Union Minister of State for Education, will address the participants of the working group meetings.
Sanjay Kumar, Secretary, Department of School Education & Literacy, said the 4th EdWG meeting at Pune following the Bhubaneswar event will focus on Foundational Literacy and Numeracy, which is a crucial component of NEP 2020.
