Sundargarh: Two persons died after being bitten by a poisonous snake at Narendra Badapada village under Banai police limits in Sundargarh district on Monday morning.

The victims include Ajit Oram from Narendra Badpada village and Rashmi Oram, a 12-year-old girl from Katuridhua village.

According to sources, Ajit was bitten by a snake while relieving himself in the morning. Initially unaware of the bite, he fell asleep after attending to nature’s call. As foam started coming out of his mouth and his condition deteriorated, he was rushed to Bonai Hospital. He was, however, declared dead on arrival.

Rashmi was bitten by a venomous snake on her neck while sleeping with her family. Despite initial treatment by a traditional healer, her condition deteriorated, and she was rushed to Banai Hospital, where she died.

Earlier, a young man from the Balang area also died from a snake bite, bringing the total death toll to three.
