Cuttack: Badambadi police on Monday arrested three persons on charges of looting people identifying themselves as police officials.
Police formed a team after Sibu Biswas, a resident of West Bengal, filed a complaint with Badambadi police against the trio accusing them of looting cash from them. Instead of returning him cash, they returned him imitation ornaments on April 19.
As per the instruction of the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), a special squad has been formed to nab the accused who looted Sibu near Moonlite Lane.
Addressing mediapersons, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Swastik Panda said “The accused are habitual offenders. While one of them is a resident of Madhya Pradesh, the two others belong to Maharashtra. As many as 14 cases have been pending against the trio at Badambadi, Manglabag, Purighat and Lalbagh police stations. They used to fool people identifying themselves as cops and took their valuables. Two bikes, mobile phones and cash have been seized from their possession. Investigation is underway to ascertain their linkage with other anti-socials and police will arrest them.”
